Off to Malaysia and Singapore

Tomorrow, I will be leaving to Malaysia and Singapore for about 10 days. I needed to getaway since it’s been forever for me to take some time off and travel. I was also thinking about going to India or Costa Rica but I chose Malaysia mainly for food and sites. I am excited to be visiting foreign land again. I love traveling to exotic sites and experience something new.

I got a great fare on, less than $1,000, and it’s on Korean Air with overnight stay over in Seoul. That means I get to see my aunt and uncle, which is a bonus.

I am so looking forward to this.

Keen Parallax Shooting day #4

We spent a quick afternoon shooting the Keen Parallax. We shot basically two shots, both indoor at a home in Millbrae. I found out that the place belongs to one of the actresses. One scene involved a bed and two women doing the coke. The second scene was a crucifix where Jesus is bleeding tears.

The second part was a pre-production nightmare because Brian could not find a right size crucifix. Just last week he found one and it looked pretty good on the screen. As is with most of the shooting, lighting is difficult to pull off. On top of that, I brought my stands but forgot the bulbs. We had to improvise with the lighting a bit but I was satisfied with it. We could have done much better though.

One more shoot to go, we need to get the car accident shoot and the opera house scene, which are two of the most difficult shoot to plan. We will see how we can pull this off. Then it’s off to post-production.

Keen Parallax shooting day #3

I missed a couple of days of shooting for Keen Parallax. Today I had to show because Brian was missing a few people for the shoot. We needed to reshoot some of the scenes from the past because of the continuity problem. We were able to do the shoots smoothly and left for another scene in San Leandro.

I was able to use the new Digital Audio Recorder I purchased from the eBay. It worked beautifully with the supplied mics but with an external mics, the volume was too low. This may be due to either not enough power to power the mic or impedance mismatch (high Z versus low Z). So, it looks like I need to shop for a portable mixer to go with this recorder.

The final shoot took a while to get it done. The lighting and prop setup took a while. Overall, the scenes came out nicely and the audio was good using Ray’s set up but I was exhausted at the end of 6 hours of shooting. One more shoot to go then post production begins.
